Samsung NV11 10.1 megapixel digital camera

Smart Touch menuing system highlights NV11

By John Virata

Samsung Camera Company?s NV11 sits at the top of the company's NV line of cameras. It is a 10.1 megapixel digital camera that features a 5X optical zoom with a 2.7-inch color TFT LCD viewfinder. It captures images to internal memory or SD cards via a Schneider Kreuznach Varioplan f.28-f4.4, 7.8-23.4mm (38-190mm 35mm equivalent) zoom lens. What sets the NV11 apart from other digital cameras is its Smart Touch user interface that enables you to make camera adjustments with just a swipe of your finger rather than having to navigate through a series of menus.

The Smart Touch is coupled with a visual onscreen icon based display4. For example, if you wish to change the camera resolution, you simply drag your finger over the resolution button, which is mated to an onscreen resolution icon, press the button, and choose the appropriate resolution you wish to switch to via the corresponding button to the right of the LCD display. This feature applies to all the settings, including focus, flash, shooting mode, metering, sharpness, effect, quality, timer, voice, etc.

Shutter speed, aperture, and white balance are also adjusted this way, depending on what setting you've chosen on the mode dial. With Smart Touch, complicated menus are mitigated and replaced with a what you want is what you push button based solution. It is really easy to use and very straightforward. Another cool feature is the Composite, which enables you to take a series of smaller images that are later combined into one image.

The NV11 features 12 scene modes. They include Night Scene, Portrait, Children, Landscape, Text, Sunset, Dawn, Backlight, Fireworks, Close-up, Beach and Snow. It also features a Biz mode that enables you to photograph business cards, and with the provided software, you can manage your business card images on your PC.
